Chompie's is a New York-style deli in Glendale, AZ that serves breakfast favorites like matzo ball soup and sandwiches. The menu also includes delicious entrees at a reasonable price. The restaurant has successfully maintained its New York roots despite being located in a mall. The pickles are particularly noteworthy, even for those who aren't typically fans of pickles.

Tudo em torno de uma experiência maravilhosa.(Original)I went there with a large group of people and some of us arrived at different times. The server was very patient and sweet with all of us. The environment was busy and bustling, but still comfortable and friendly. While there, I had matzo ball soup, latkes ( potato pancakes), and a canolli. Everything was delicious, and the food the rest of the group ordered looked amazing as well. The matzo ball soup was outstanding. The matzo ball in it was so tender and even had some fluffiness to it. It was perfection, in my opinion. The broth was super flavorful, and the veggies were tender but not mushy. All around a wonderful experience.

I’m told this is the best deli in Phoenix. If true then that’s very very sad. So far I’ve only found one deli in the Phoenix area that’s worth the drive but this place isn’t. It’s very average for a deli. Mostly because in all the meat on my sandwich (turkey and Swiss on marble rye) all I could taste was the lettuce. I will say the bread, marble rye, was good. Not stale. And the Arnold Palmer I got was amazing. (I wish I’d have known I wouldn’t be getting a refill before my sandwich came though). Not easy choking down a huge sandwich without even a water to wash it down. Anyway. I didn’t like whatever those onion ring things are called at all. And the “chipotle ranch” that comes with is gross. I also tried the coleslaw and that was also a huge miss. Service was lackluster. One of my pet peeves is waiting. And waiting. For the check.I was hoping I’d finally found a real deli on the west side. I guess the search still continues.Side note: very expensive. And before you @ me with “you should have ordered the pastrami”. Maybe so. But a good deli has multiple good offerings. Not just one thing.

We arrived for dinner just before closing, but they provided good service, and the food was excellent. They also sell various deserts which is a great benefit.

This is my favorite place to eat in the mall! Food has always been delicious, staff has always been friendly and very accommodating to my Service Dog and I, and the atmosphere is both charming and relaxing, even when they're packed! I've had many things off their menu, and have nothing terrible to say! Even their deli carries little "doggie bagels" for my pup!

Temos alguns locais para tomar café da manhã nesta área, mas o Chompie's, na minha opinião, ainda está no topo.(Original)We usually elect to pick up the food as it is always extremely busy in the mornings and on weekends which saves us the headache of sitting around and waiting around for a server. This place has become a staple in our household as it always delivers generous portions, great tasting food at a reasonable price. Breakfast places in my opinion are hit or miss for more reasons than one. Sometimes, the food can taste like old oil or butter which completely ruins the dish, Chompie’s ALWAYS tastes fresh. When we ask for crispy hash browns they ACTUALLY crisp the hash browns. Ordering online is super easy and modifications aren’t an issue. We have quite a few breakfast places in this area but Chompie’s, in my opinion, is still at the top.

Ordered Philly and wedges. Sister ordered Huge salad with fried chicken chunks. Ice teas with lemon. Salsa, ketchup. Waitress was as prompt as possible considering she was working 5 tables. I always compare Florida waitresses to every other states. The difference is Florida waitresses ALWAYS bring ice tea on their FIRST visit to the table. Take heed AZ waitresses...nuff said.

Chompies has some delicious food, but be prepared to go with an appetite. The portions are large, and the menu items are all pretty heavy and filling. I prefer the ambiance of the Scottsdale location, but the mall is convenient to make a couple of stops at once. I'm a hard critic when it comes to service, and this was pretty mediocre. I think our server was more interested in getting off shift than service. Fortunately, I didn't have high expectations, and that's the only downside.

Horrible customer service! We usually love buying from the bakery counter when shopping at the mall. Today as we took my 5 year old granddaughter shopping for her birthday all she wanted was a fruit tart for dessert. We waited at the bakery counter for someone to come check us out or even acknowledge us. With 1 tart left in the case we figured no worries, we were the only ones waiting. Two employees having a conversation never acknowledged us, no biggie we can wait. So a server comes and boxes up the tart for a guest dining in and I mention to her hey, my granddaughter has been patiently waiting for someone to help us and she wants that tart can you ring it up for us? She says sorry this is for a customer dining in. So I unapologetically say we'll we've been waiting here and no one has helped and we're waiting for that tart. The server leaves the boxed tart, doesn't ring us up and walks away. Seconds later another employee comes, grabs the tart and as I'm about to say hey I've been waiting for someone to ring me up for that she says too bad, here's my name the corporate number and you can't have this tart. I would understand if someone ordered it prior to us but we stood there for over 5 minutes waiting for anyone to acknowledge us and they never did. I could have easily walked away with the boxed up tart but that's not the point. What a way to keep recurring customers away.

Três vezes não é o encanto.(Original)Today was my third time visiting this location. I’ve tried chompies before in Tempe way before they close maybe six years ago looking for a corn beef sandwich place after moving here from Michigan. I didn’t like it the first try but decided to give it a second chance three weeks ago. Found out all I needed to do was ask for a thicker cut of meat because the deli thin slices change the taste of it for me. This place is not cheap. It’s 20 bucks for a whole sandwich and that’s fine but I want what I asked for. The first two visits were so great. I was craving it again today. I ordered over the phone like I usually did and asked for a thicker cut of meat. Picked up my food and went home as I began to eat I realized it was really thinly sliced, but decided to take a bite anyway, and it was dry. Cottonmouth dry, I called and asked for another sandwich to be made as I drove up there with the sandwich for them to switch out. In the back of my mind, I kind of feel like they took the meat, I didn’t eat and just soaked it in beef juice and put it on another slice of bread for me. That’s what’s going on in the back of my mind when I got home and looked at it. It was still thinly sliced like it was earlier today instead of the thicker cut I’ve had previously in the past three weeks. Maybe it’s a sign for me to give this place a break. I didn’t even finish my sandwich because the taste and texture. It’s just not the same when it’s thinly sliced like deli meat. I prefer the thicker cut like on the East Coast, Midwest, Jewish style corn beef sandwiches. I will not return to this location. I will try a different one maybe but I was so disappointed because I paid $52 and some change for this meal. Three times is not the charm.

Absolutely the very worst bagel I have ever had. Not only was the service rude, but there was about a pound of spoiled cream cheese put on my bagel. Picture attached. I had to throw it out and try to get other food that would get the taste out of my mouth. I ordered the lox New York bagel without egg. Not sure what they called it.

⭐⭐⭐(Original)I was looking forward to this highly spoken of place and I came to dine in on a Saturday so of course I expected a busy service. My friend wanted to meet at the Arrowhead Towne Center for lunch and asked if I knew of a good place. He was in luck. I knew about Chompie’s at the Arrowhead Towne Center in Glendale, Arizona. I’d been there before and ordered the hot pastrami sandwich. I checked the menu for the price on my first visit and I saw $21. I thought $21 was a bit steep but I had my mind at on pastrami from a deli. Chompie’s is not ANY deli, Chompie’s is one of the best. The first time I shared the sandwich with my wife and the second time, I again shared a pastrami sandwich with my wife but this time she was not with me. I was bringing half of the sandwich home if I had the willpower to bag it up and bring it home. I ate my half pretty fast. So so good! She ate her sandwich over a period of two days. Why didn’t I think to eat my half at home over two days? She had two days of gastronomic bliss. I had a close encounter with a pastrami sandwich and the sandwich nearly won. But I held to my vow of laying off the other half.

Great atmosphere, great staff. We were a bit disappointed in our scrambled eggs and sausage. The eggs tasted like powdered eggs, the sausage was far too greasy. The bacon was cooked perfectly ( not too crisp, not too soft ). We had the everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. That was delicious. Soft warm bagel and easily spreadable cream cheese. 🤌🏻Coffee tasted fresh and was piping hot.Our waitress was sweet and attentive. She answered any questions we had with such patience and a great smile.

"(Original)A little trip to the Big Apple at Arrowhead Towne Center in Glendale AZ. As a former NYer, I loved the decor with its pics of the subway, taxis, etc., and it's nice to have seating options both inside and outside. Music was kept low enough to be able to carry on a conversation and I appreciate that! It wouldn't be a bad idea to throw a typical NY song into the mix of contemporary pieces--a Broadway tune or NY themed piece would be fun to loop in at least once during a typical dining cycle. The service was superior with a smiling server named Ryan who was friendly and attentive. If he wasn't sure about a question, he immediately looked it up and gave the answer. I kept him busy with the all you can eat fish ($21.99) since I decided to fill up on fish and figured I could always take the crispy bar-fried wedges of potatoes home if I had to. I often have to peel away overly thick or partially soggy batter, but this was light and adhered well. Three pieces to start and then refilled and all were good. The coleslaw was tasty too. Nothing was over salted which was fine by me since I like to control it at the table. They should lose the plastic containers for the tartar sauce: use washables or paper foldout ones for better dipping and environmental concerns, and when eating in-house why not just put a dollop on the plate and save any separate container? Same for plastic straws: go paper please and only when requested. The pea soup was tasty too and appropriately sized for a side with the meal, but if that's their regular sized bowl if ordering a la carte, it's too small for the price. The Coney style knish was way overpriced at 6.99, and its crust didn't have the outer crispness and the part near the potato filling was soggy. The filling didn't have that dash of pepper I was used to, so had to add it myself. There was no need to add a side of flavorless gravy, so don't know why they include that--certainly nothing I'd ever seen or needed with a NY knish. The chopped liver wasn't what I was used to either as it was sweeter, I could not detect chopped hard boiled eggs, sautéed onions, or the schmaltzy richness that chicken fat would provide. For health reasons I'm sorta glad they omit the latter, but the appearance would've benefited from some white and yellow egg flecking. The presentation was nice with red onions and bagel chips. I was glad they used full size bagel chips as I'm sure a place like Chompie's has plenty of bagels to make them fresh, but that's also a reason that they should be outstanding. They should not be so hard that you could break a tooth. They should perfect them and make it clear that they are freshly made bagel chips that are baked with some olive oil and a hint of salt and people would rave about them. These had to be dropped into soup or doused with salad dressing and were not appropriate for chopped liver. And what, no slice of a kosher pickle?!It was disappointing that this location does not have any beer on tap nor does it have the favorite drink to accompany a deli meal: Dr. Brown's Cel-ray soda. They have a pretty good baked goods section with treats like black and white iced cookies. The 3.99 cookie I got was a sugar cookie with a shortbread richness and chocolate sprinkles and dollop of chocolate icing in the center. It was the best cookie I've had since moving to AZ, but truly, the price should be knocked down a bit.Overall, a nice relaxing meal that makes me want to return again. However, because of the prices I can't be a regular, so hope they have some coupons or other incentives since in the spirit of NY, people should be incentivized to come and should be able to say upon leaving, "Such a deal!"

We placed an online order due to my limitations. My partner's picked up our food and we drove home, quite a distance. When we arrived home and I opened up the bag, I saw discovered three of the orders of cream cheese that we placed with our bagels and my bagel sandwich were missing. I checked the receipt and we were charged for every last cream cheese as well as a small tip that I included to ensure a correct order. The sandwich tasted very good but it was dry, of course, because my cream cheese was missing. I made several attempts to call the restaurant and every extension that I tried, the same voice answered and placed me on hold without even attempting to acknowledge me or listen to my issue. This experience was at them Arrowhead location. I am hoping to try their other location and have a better experience in the future. I was not credited for the incomplete order because I was never able to speak to a live person over then phone to resolve the issue.

Disappointing experience b/c of BAD ManagementFood was good. Waitress was very sweet but so overwhelmed, resulting in bad service. They had a sign on the table , in BIG letters " Spend $20 and get 20% off." Then in tiny letters below, "in the deli or bakery." I couldn't see the tiny letters and proceeded to order over $20 worth of food to get 20% off. When the waitress said NO DISCOUNT ON THE FOOD YOU ORDERED IN THE RESTAURANT, I kindly asked for the manager. He was rude, insulting and condescending when I asked if he would honor the 20% off because the printing was too small to read. He replied that everybody else could read the sign and no way would he give me ANYTHING. My check was $24, not including the tip. 20% off would have cost him about $4.40. And for this he lost a loyal customer. BTW, all I had was a sandwich and a diet creme soda, for $24.00. That's bad management, especially in these times when people cannot afford to eat out, as before. Next time, I am going to "Scott's Generations" on Glendale. All employees are lovely there!PS. Lovey never would have treated a customer in this way!!
