So, you're saying the hotline was able to book a "mileage bargain" award for you (to MEX during the November promo period) that you were not able to find online?
Hi Goliath, sorry for late reply, holidays with the kids was keeping from Flyertalk
Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. Basically what they told me was that more awards flights are available for German citizens and as a Belgian I was not able to book these millage Bargains, but Germans still could. The lady from the hotline was super helpful and kind of felt sorry for me. She said, let me see what I can do, after a day called me back with the confirmation our flights had been booked.
So it worked for us this time, but I am aware that I will be in the same situation the next I try to book an millage bargain.
This together with the very hight taxes we need to pay with these award tickets, just makes it all feel very bitter.

Seems like this month's Meilenschnaeppchen aren't loaded to the Meilenschnaeppchen web site yet. But here are the destinations ex Germany that are already bookable:
GIG in C Class for 70,000 miles
YYZ in Y Class for 30,000 miles
IAH in Y Class for 30,000 miles
IST in C Class for 25,000 miles
VNO in C Class for 25,000 miles
HEL in C Class for 25,000 miles

Hi all, I was trying to book my first bargain flight (MXP-PEK with the business promo award) and when I look at the fare conditions I see that there is no free seat reservation. Does it mean that I can however choose my seat in advance by paying a fee, or is it not possible until the check-in? (I will fly with my wife and it would be nice to be seated together).
Thanks!

ex brazil is very intriguing... (no yq). What other places have this no yq law? hkg, japan, and manilla?

The places you mention you should have low to zero YQ, although I'm not aware of an actual zero YQ legislation applying as in the case of Brazil.
NZ is commonly thought to have zero YQ but I believe it's more to do with the fact that NZ requires all consumer prices to be shown inclusive of taxes/fees, so people mistakenly believe that no YQ is allowed.

Did a 30k r/t WAW-LAX on lot recently. It shows the route has 55k in business but I didn't see any availability. I had a row to myself and FAs said its a route that is rarely full. This could be done for 25k if you called up LOT, however the timeframe is shorter than on the LH site. Great deal.

Actually finding a Schnäppchen to LAX in the given time frame seems a bit challenging, however.
And if you need two seats, forget about it...

In Y, LOT had plenty of lax seats. While not glamorous, having 3 seats in coach per person isn't exactly roughing it.

How is the WAW-LAX route going to be sustainable if the loads are as light as people say? It's not as if LO regularly pack out their C or PE cabins.
